The Magic of Summer Reading Programs

Summer break is a time for relaxation, adventure, and exploration—but for many children, it can also be a time of lost learning. That’s why Summer Reading Programs (SRPs) are a staple at 96% of America’s public libraries. These programs provide an engaging way to keep children reading throughout the summer, ensuring their literacy skills stay sharp and ready for the next school year.

But SRPs aren’t just about preventing the dreaded “summer slide.” They’re about fun! At our library, we believe reading should be a joy, not a chore. That’s why we incorporate exciting activities alongside our reading challenges. Crafts, storytelling, music, and even hula hoop contests are just a few of the ways we make summer reading an unforgettable experience. When children connect reading with fun, they develop a lifelong love for books and learning.

So, whether your child is a bookworm or just beginning their reading journey, our Summer Reading Program is the perfect way to keep their minds active while school is out. Join us this summer and make memories with stories, creativity, and friends. Let’s make reading the highlight of summer!

Earn, Save, and Spend with Library Loot!

At our library, we believe reading should be rewarding in more ways than one! That’s why we’re excited to introduce Library Loot, a fun and engaging program designed to encourage children to read while teaching valuable lessons about saving and spending responsibly.

Here’s how it works: Every time a child checks out books, they earn one Library Dollar to add to their savings. The more they read, the more they earn! But the real excitement comes when they get to spend their hard-earned Library Loot at one of our four annual bazaars.

Our bazaars are held throughout the year, offering a variety of items for children to purchase, including school supplies and gifts for family and friends. These special events align with key moments:

  • Mother’s Day Bazaar – Find the perfect gift for Mom or a special caregiver.
  • Father’s Day Bazaar – Shop for Dad or a beloved father figure.
  • Back to School Bazaar – Stock up on essential school supplies.
  • Christmas Bazaar – Pick out holiday gifts for loved ones.

Library Loot is more than just a fun incentive—it’s a way to help children understand the value of saving, planning, and making thoughtful purchasing decisions. Plus, it encourages them to develop a lifelong love for reading!

So, bring your young readers to the library, check out books, and start earning today. The next bazaar is just around the corner!

In addition to Library Loot and the Summer Reading Program, we offer a variety of programs for all ages.

The Library holds adult and family programs throughout the year, including craft workshops, educational seminars, and community events. Whether you're looking to expand your knowledge, meet new people, or simply enjoy a fun activity, there’s something for everyone.

Please check our calendar or Facebook page for details on upcoming events. We look forward to seeing you at the Library!
